Exact Group B.V. is a global leader in cloud business software, serving 350,000+ companies in the accountancy, manufacturing, professional services and wholesale & distribution industries. Headquartered in the Netherlands, Exact employs 2,000 people in 14 countries.

The challenge

Exact was aiming to implement code quality the LEAN way, but its developers were struggling to find a practical, effective way to measure the quality aspects of its code – as well as when the quality level was good enough. A clear Definition of Done was missing. In addition, the team was also facing difficulties with the unmanageable amount of issues flagged by a violations-based code quality tool they were already using.

The solution

Exact implemented Better Code Hub to monitor quality in its software development pipeline. The team reports big advantages from the immediate feedback they get and also credits the tool with guiding them towards achievable quality standards. As an added benefit, they also say Better Code Hub has helped them put the fun back into working on their code, describing it as “gamefying” software quality.  Exact will continue to use Better Code Hub to improve its application development environments and will also roll it out to the entire global software organization of 400 employees in a phased approach.  In the video below, the Exact team highlights the benefits they’re realizing from Better Code Hub.

“The pragmatic nature of the Better Code Hub tool, combined with its goal to guarantee growth-proof quality for the future, seems to make it a great fit with the mindset and ambitions of Exact.”

  • In assessing a vendor for a critical software purchase, TÜViT told us that SIG was the only one organization certified to determine if (1) the purchase was a good foundation for future excellence (2) it was worth the investment (3) it could integrate it seamlessly into our own organisation. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with SIG again.
