AI is writing a growing share of the code financial institutions run on. AI could be worth $200 billion to $340 billion a year to global banking (McKinsey). Meanwhile, the sector is under constant cyberattacks and the code AI is building on is often lacking when it comes to quality and security.
AI compounds whatever discipline an organization already has: where quality is measured and managed, it speeds up delivery, and where it is not, it speeds up the debt just as fast.
This webinar takes SIG’s benchmark of more than 40,000 systems and 600 billion lines of code to highlight four risks and where leaders must focus in 2027.
➡️ You can’t prove what AI wrote. At least 1.4% of financial services production code is already AI-generated, and it is hard to spot by eye.
➡️ One failure travels. Financial services take 62% of AI-driven breaches, and a defect doesn’t stay inside the institution that wrote it.
➡️ Hard-to-change code eats your capacity. Moving one system from 2 to 4 stars can free up about 5.8 developers’ worth of capacity, roughly €870,000 a year.
➡️ Customer data must be protected. AI-generated projects showed twice the security violations in SIG’s test, and a check inside an agent’s build loop cut high-risk findings by roughly 97% in SIG’s experiment.
1️⃣ How much AI-written code is already running in financial services, and why it is hard to see
2️⃣ Why a failure in one institution’s code reaches further than that institution
3️⃣ Where hard-to-change code is tying up engineering time, and how to rank what to fix first
4️⃣ What a quality and security check inside an AI agent’s loop changes
5️⃣ Three questions for your next leadership meeting, and the numbers to take to your CFO
